Punjab Government Decides to Launch Adult Education Program, 500 Rupees Monthly Stipend For Each Adult Student
Punjab government is going to launch adult education program in 11 backward districts of province. Classes will be conducted in second shifts of primary schools for adults. Government has a plan of making 20, 000 people literate till the end of 2015. All the registered students will be given 500 rupees monthly stipend. Initially this program will be started from 11 districts of Punjab. School education department Punjab will monitor this program. This scheme will be launched in following cities

All above mentioned districts are located in Southern Punjab and are most backward districts of province. Literacy rate is very low in these cities as compared to central and upper Punjab. Program will be launched in November, 2014. Studysolutions.pk welcome this initiative by provincial government and suggests that some skill should also be taught to these adult students so that they may be able to earn their livelihood. In 1985 Nai Roshni schools were established for adult education which was a successful program but the next government closed all these schools. Now there is a need of establishing a separate adult education department to continue this useful scheme in future.
