All About PMS Exam 2017 – Complete Guide

PMS & COMBINED COMPETITIVE EXAMS 2017

PMS is the abbreviation of Provincial Management Service. Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) conducts the PMS exams every year to fill the vacant posts in provincial management service. PMS exams very much resemble with the CSS exams The students who appear in PMS exams can also appear in CSS exams with some extra preparation. Now PPSC only receive computerized application forms or PMS exams.

Format of PMS & Combined Competitive Exam 2017
There are two kinds of papers in PMS i.e compulsory and elective papers. Candidates have to appear in all the following compulsory papers.
1.English Essay
2.English General
3.Urdu
4.Islamic Studies or Ethics(For minority candidates only)
5.Pakistan Studies
6.General Knowledge
All the compulsory subjects carries one hundred marks each.
There are 30 elective/optional subjects in PMS which have been divided into 7 groups. Each optional subject carries 200 marks and a candidate will have to chose 3 optional subjects from 3 different groups. You can see the list of 30 optional subjects in our article PMS-FAQ.

Documents Required
Now PPSC receives just online forms but candidates will have to bring following documents with a set of photocopy at the time of interview-viva.
1-Original fee deposit bank receipt
2- Matriculation or O Level certificate
3-Intermediate or A Level certificate. Candidates having A-level certificate will also bring their original equivalence certificate issued by IBCC.
3-Bachelor degree or detailed marks sheet showing total marks or CGPA/GPA or percentage of marks.
4-Domicile certificate of any district of Punjab issued on or before the closing date.
5-If you are a civil servant then you will have to bring permission letter from your concerned department issued and attested by
the competent authority. The specimen of permission letter is available at the official website of PPSC.
6-Eeperience letter signed and stamped by the competent authority. The sample of experience letter is also available on the official website of PPSC.
7-Original valid national identity card issued by NADRA.
8-Recent passport size colored photograph.
9-If you have any foreign qualification then you will have to bring the equivalence certificate issued by the qualification equivalence determination committee of the related department.
10-Disable candidates will bring their disability certificate issued by social welfare department government o Punjab.

Preparation Tips PMS Exam 2017
1-If you want to appear in PMS exams then you must start your preparation for PMS exams in graduation. Select those subjects in graduation which you want to opt in PMS and attempt all the papers in English.
2-Improve your general knowledge about Pakistan, Islam, Every day science and current affairs.
3-Learn creative writing which is one of the keys of success in PMS along with general knowledge.
4-Take the help of past papers and try to solve as many previous papers as you can.
5- Improve your English vocabulary and grammar.
6-Write a essay on any topic from past papers daily.
7-During your preparation don’t leave any PCS exam.
8-PMS and CSS are just like twin brothers, so also appear in CSS exams too
9-Read both English and Urdu newspapers daily and watch CNN and BBC.
10-Just take calculated risk in MCQs and try to understand the difference between calculated risk and bluffing.
11-Attempt the papers like winners.
