Q.NO.1-What is ECAT?
ANSWER- ECAT stands for engineering college admission test and it is a mandatory entry test for those students who want to get admission in engineering universities in Pakistan after FSc pre engineering or A Level.
Q.NO.2-What is the syllabus of ECAT?
ANSWER- ECAT’s syllabus consists of Mathematics, Chemistry, English and Physics of F.Sc pre engineering or equivalent level. The pattern of this entry test vary from university to university.
Q.NO.3-What is the format of Engineering College Admission Test?
ANSWER- ECAT is a MCQ type objective test. The number of questions and weight of the ECAT is not fixed.
O.NO.4-How someone can register himself for ECAT?
ANSWER- You don’t need to register yourself separately for ECAT entry test as it is the part of admission process of engineering colleges and universities. Every engineering institute advertise admissions in national newspapers.
Q.NO.5-What is the registration fee for ECAT?
ANSWER- There is no any separate fee for entry test as registration fee is included in application processing fee.

Q.NO.6- Does principle of negative marking apply on engineering college admission test?
ANSWER- Yes, as ECAT is a MCQ type entry test and four marks are given for every right answer and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
Q.NO.7-How a candidate having foreign qualification can apply for ECAT?
ANSWER-Candidates having foreign qualification such as A Level, will have to get equivalence certificate from I.B.C.C. to sit in entry test.
Q.NO.8- What document are required to apply for admission in engineering universities?
ANSWER-You will have to submit admission form along with following documents.
Attested copy of domicile certificate
Computerized identity card or B form issued by NADRA.
Attested copies of all educational documents(certificate, diplomas or degrees) such as Matriculation certificate, FSc pre engineering certificate, DAE, B.Sc, B.Tech or equivalent.
Attested copies of all Mark sheets
Six passport size colored recent photographs.
Candidates having any equivalent foreign qualifications such as A Level, will have to submit equivalence certificate issued by I.B.C.C.
If you are going to apply against the seats reserved for children of overseas Pakistani then you will have to get employment certificate of your parent/Guardian from the Pakistani Embassy or High Commission of your concerned country. You will also have to submit the attested copy( Attested by Pakistani High Commission or Embassy) of resident visa of your parent/guardian.
Q.NO.9-What is the validity period of ECAT score?
ANSWER- ECAT score remains valid for one year/session only. You can not apply for admission in engineering universities with your previous year score.
Q.NO.10-How to prepare ECAT entry test?
ANSWER- The easiest way for preparing yourself for ECAT entry test is to clear your concepts about all the topics of all science subjects and improve your English grammar. Don’t take this entry test on your nerves. There is no need of joining any academy for preparation of ECAT. Just revise the objective questions and key concepts of each science subject. Take the help of past papers and after the intermediate exams don’t relax and keep on studying till the final victory.
