We have a very sad breaking news about Punjab youth internship program 2019. As per media news Punjab government will reserve no funds for Punjab youth internship program 2019, in annual provincial budget 2017-18. It seems that government has closed this program. Although no official statement has been released in this regard, but how a program can run without budget and funding. As per daily nai baat’s story government took this step due to corruption of bureaucracy. Punjab government had reserved 1.5 billion rupees for Punjab youth internship program of last year, but this year Punjab government even not allocated a penny in this regard.
Interns were given 12000 monthly stipend under this program for six months. They were also given internship certificate, which helped them a lot in their job hunting campaign. There was a plan to provide internship up to 20000 educated jobless youngsters each year. It was a revolutionary step, as lot of youngsters got job after completing internships under this scheme. But bureaucracy recruited lot of ghosts interns. Large number of relatives of Bureaucrats were receiving stipend without joining. Bureaucrats also used to take bribe from interns. Bogus files were created and interns were not given their full monthly stipend. Due to which government has taken back this initiative.
We make an appeal to Punjab government for restoration of this useful program. Government should develop some transparent mechanism for granting internships, in stead of taking back this program. Dear Shahbaz Sharif you should not surrender before the bureaucracy and corruption. We hope that you will take back this decision as jobless youth need proper internship for finding reasonable jobs for themselves. Government can take the help of Nadra and NTS for ensuring transparency. But this is not a solution to shut down such a wonderful scheme.
