Breaking News- Pakistan Government is Going to End Entry Tests From All Government Universities
As per media reports government has decided to abolish the entry tests from all public universities. Fee structure for regular and self supported programs will also be revised for next academic session. Public universities used to conduct so called internal entry tests for granting admission in their various disciplines. Generally these entry tests were conducted for undergraduate, graduate, post graduate and MPhil level programs. Students were raising voices against these so-called admission tests.
In-spite of order by government still many public sector universities are conducting entry tests. Now government has taken strict notice of this useless practice. As per breaking news by Mr Yousuf Abbasi (Education Reporter Daily Express) now admission in public universities will be granted on open merit basis. No public university will be allowed to conducted any external (NTS) or internal entry test. This decision will enforce specially for admission in MPhil, information technology and commerce disciplines. Large number of talented students were compelled to get admission in private universities as their were reports of nepotism and corruption in internal entry tests of government universities.
About 80% students are presently taking admission in private institutes due to failure in university entry test. Private universities charges high fees and funds from these talented students. Morale and results/performance of public institutes were also affecting due to this trend. Standard of private institutes has raised due to high enrollments by talented students. Now students were not taking interest even in self support programs of public institutes. That’s why it has been decided to reduce the fees of self support programs too for improving the enrollment in these programs. Hopefully now ECAT and MCAT tests will also be abolished for getting admission in engineering universities and medical colleges of Pakistan.
