MASTER OF ARTS COMPLETE GUIDE

Master of Arts is post graduate degree in humanities. MA is a two year program after graduation. You can appear as private candidate too in many MA programs. Some universities have semester system for regular students of MA but majority of universities follow annual system. Allama Iqal open university, Islamia university Bahawal Pur,  Alkhair university Azad Kashmir and many other universities are offering different MA programs through distance learning. But the distance learning programs of AIOU are most popular among the students in Pakistan.

Subjects
Usually 5 subjects are taught in every program of Master of Arts in annual system. While in semester system usually students have to study 3 programs in each semester. In some MA programs students have to complete some research work or thesis.

Which MA is better
Its a controversial question but still i shall try to give you some tips in this regard.
1-It better to do MA in a subject which you have studied in graduation level or at least in intermediate.
2-Never go against your aptitude.
3-If you want to appear in competitive exams then chose a subject which may be helpful for you in the preparation of CSS and PMS exams.
4-Also keep in mind the market demand of the subject but here i shall advise you never kill your natural talent as if you have talent in some field then your talent will create opportunities for you too.

5-If you are weak in any subject try to avoid it as third division in MA will be very harmful for your career.
6-If you are good in more than one subject then decide according to market demand of the subject.We are going to write series of articles on scope of different master and graduation programs so keep in touch with us.
7-If your not a employed person then always get admission in regular MA program or avoid distance learning programs as some government and private institutes do not accept distance learning degrees or at least don’t give them priority.
8-Inspite of going for double MA get specialization in your field.
9-Regional and foreign languages except English have less demand in market but if you have talent in these languages then surely you can opt them. Same is the case with Philosophy and kashmiriat.

Eligibility
Candidate must have bachelor degree(14 years of education) from any recognized university with minimum 45 percent marks(second division). Students having the same subject in the bachelor degree will be given preference. For MA in some specific subjects this condition is mandatory. Some universities also take entry test and interview before granting admission. The universities affiliated with NTS may demand good score in NTS test.

1-An MA degree holder can become lecturer of his subject in government colleges after clearing the Public Service Commission exam. You can also get job of lecturer in private colleges and universities.
2-You can join civil services of Pakistan.
3-Subject Specialist.
4-All the desk jobs.
5-Writer.
6-Management jobs.
7-Administrative jobs.
8-Research and survey related jobs in NGO’s.
9-Marketing and human resource related jobs.
10-You can apply almost for all PCS jobs.
11-Private organizations also honor MA degree.
