M.Sc-Master of Science-Complete Guide

Master of Science or MS.c is a post graduate degree in any field of science. This degree increases the worth of your resume. It also boosts your analytical and problem solving skill. It is a two years degree after graduation in science subjects i.e BSc. Fortunately or unfortunately  now many Master programs in arts are also called M.Sc, such as M.Sc Pakistan Studies, M.Sc History, M.Sc HR, M.Sc Journalism etc. This program is available in number of subjects. Almost all major universities in Pakistan are offering MSC program in various subjects. Some universities also offering distance learning MSC programs, but students have to attend workshops and practicals in these distance learning programs too. Now a days MS is taking the place of MSC as many universities have introduced 4 year BS program which is considered equivalent to MSc. So after BS students gets admission in MS Program which is equivalent to M.Phil. But still students with two year bachelor degrees in science get admission in MSC.

Eligibility
Candidate must have Passed BSC in the relevant subject from any HEC recognized University with minimum 45 Percent marks. The merit criteria of all universities differs with each others. Most of the universities take interview and test before granting admissions in MSC programs. University affiliated with NTS also require good score in NTS test.

Subjects
In annual system more or less five subjects are taught each year while in semester system 3 subjects are taught in each semester.Almost in all the MSC programs students have to submit a research thesis/paper. We shall soon publish an article about writing thesis so keep visiting your own site.

Career & Scope
Master of Science degree increases employment opportunities for you. You can get a job more easily than an BSC or MA degree holder. Teaching is the most favorite destination of all Master of Science degree holders. But they can also get jobs in their relevant industrial sector. Although Pakistan is far behind from rest of the world in scientific research still there are many research firms, where you can get job. Master in science degree holders can also join laboratories related to their fields. All private and public educational institutes require the services of MSC personals. If you want to join teaching line then you should go for MED or M Phil.

For lecturer job in government colleges you have to appear in Public Service Commission ‘s exams. Universities take their internal test and interviews for  lecturer jobs, so it is highly recommended that you should remain updated about your subject of specialization. You can also appear in competitive exams for joining the civil services as almost all the science subjects are considered scoring subjects in CSS and PMS. MSC also helps you in everyday science paper of CSS. Always take this thing in mind that we are living in the era of information technology, so you should always try to enhance your computer skills for finding a better job.
