Khawaja Saad Raique Approved The Proposal For Pakistan Railway Medical College & University at Lahore
Pakistan Railways has decided to establish a medical college and university in Lahore. Federal Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has approved the proposal and Director Education Dr Farhan Abadat Ali has been assigned to complete these tasks. Home work for PR University and PR Medical College has been started after completing the home work Pakistan Railway will contact HEC and federal government for charter and affiliation. It is expected that university will be established at Walton academy as facilities of electrical, mechanical and civil engineering labs are available there. Which shows that PR university will also offer engineering programs. PR Medical College will be established with Pakistan Railway Karen Hospital, Lahore. Karen Hospital will play the role of teaching hospital for PR Medical College. These sites are not final as railway has many other sites too.
Pakistan Railway is already running 4 PR colleges and 16 PR schools through out the country. These colleges and schools provide free education to the wards of railway employees of grade 1 to grade 10. Children of common citizens are also given education in these colleges on subsidized fee i.e 700 rupees per month. We welcome this decision by Pakistan Railway as there is an need of making more public universities and medical colleges. Private medical colleges and universities are exploiting the students. Probably this proposed PR University and PR Medical Colleges will get charter from federal government and students from all over the country will be given admission in these institutions. Large number of students will be benefited from these projects. We hope that these institutions will not be run on commercial basis.
