PRIME MINISTER APPOINTS DR MUKHTAR AHMAD AS NEW CHAIRMAN OF HEC
Prime Minister has appointed Dr Muktar Ahmad as chairman Higher Education commission. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad was working as Executive Director in HEC. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said “Higher Education Commission will be converted into a non political institution, universities will be upgraded and Higher Eduction Commission will soon regain its lost status”. He added ” HEC will advertise fill the post of executive director on merit and soon this post will be advertized in news papers. He assured media that there is no grouping in HEC and he is committed to promote higher education in the country. He promised that he will make HEC an ideal institution of Pakistan.
Earlier Islamabad High Court had directed the federal government to appoint the HEC chairman within the next 15 days. By the appointment of Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif set a good example of following the court orders. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad is the third chairman of HEC and he has vast experience of handling the higher education related issues. We hope that he will work hard for promotion of higher education like Dr Attaur Rehman.
Higher Education Commission is the largest and most successful educational institution of Pakistan and many countries of the world were following the model of HEC in their country. But in the last regime this institution suffered a lot due to degree verification issue of politicians. No country can make progress rapidly without raising the standard of higher education.
