Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is consulting with his senior cabinet members for early launch of Prime Minister yellow cab scheme 2017. The aim of this scheme is to improve transport system in the country and to reduce unemployment in the country. It is expected that unemployed youth will be given rickshaws, buses and mini cargo vehicles on easy and interest free installments.
National and international transport companies will be invited to invest in PM Nawaz Sharif yellow cab scheme 2017. Federal government will convince these companies to provide their vehicles on installments to unemployed youth of Pakistan. Federal government will take the responsibility of paying back the installments. Vehicles will be distributed through computerized draw for ensuring transparency. A committee will be constituted soon under the chairmanship of Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, which will prepare a policy for the PM transport scheme 2017.
Schedule and details will be announced after the approval of policy by the federal cabinet. Upper age limit will be 40 years applicants. Applicants must have heavy traffic license (LHV). Scheme will be introduced through a public sector bank, most probably National Bank of Pakistan. An independent authority will be established to monitor the project. Government will provide 5 to 10 % subsidy on each vehicle the rest of 90 to 95 % amount will be received from lucky draw winners, who will pay the installments in 5 to 10 years. 500,000 vehicles will be distributed among masses through this scheme. In first stage 50,000 vehicles will be provided through draw.
Procedural details will be finalized within 2 to 3 months and it is expected that project will be launched in the beginning of 2017. Punjab government has already launched Apna Rozgar scheme.
