Punjab Government to Increase Seats in Public Colleges of Lahore
Punjab Government has decided to increase seats in government colleges of Lahore. There are 52 boys and girls colleges in Lahore. Only 50000 seats are available in these 52 government boys and girls colleges in morning and evening shifts. Due to which about 80000 students have to get admission in private colleges every year. These 80000 students have to pay heavy fees of private colleges. Now government has decided to increase 30 percent seats in public boys and girls colleges of Lahore to facilitate the students.

This decision was taken in a higher level meeting of education department Punjab, presided by provincial minister for education Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan. Education department Punjab will soon issue a notification in this regard. We welcome this decision by Punjab government. As there are chances that merit of government colleges in Lahore will decrease this year due to this step. But here arises a question that why government is taking this step only in the Lahore city. We recommend that seats should be increased in all public colleges of Punjab rather whole Pakistan.
