Punjab Police & Ufone *55# Emergency Alert System For Educational Institutes
Punjab government & Police has launched emergency alert system (EAS) for all public and private educational institutes of the province. The purpose launching this system is to combat terrorism. Last year on 16 December terrorists attacked on Army Public School Peshawar and about 140 students and teachers of this school died in this attack. All the educational institutes of the country were having sense of insecurity. To boost the morale of students and teachers Punjab government has taken this initiative.
Now in case of any terrorist activity educational institutes can alert the Punjab police by just clicking a button of mobile phone. Ufone is cooperating with Provincial government in this regard. All schools, colleges and universities can download the registration form of emergency alert service from the official website of Punjab police and Punjab Information Technology Board. Educational Institutes will have to submit the dully filled forms in their concerned police station for verification purpose. Ony Ufone sim can be used for accessing EAS. Police will take about 3 to 5 days for verification. After verification and service activation educational institutes will be informed through SMS. At that stage school/college/university will be allowed to access the emergency alarm system. Access will be provided by dialing *55# via EAS application which will be available free of cost soon on open android market. Only registered UFone sims can be used for this free service.
You can generate alarm even without having any balance in your ufone SIM. This service can be used only in case of firing or terrorist attack on educational institute.Quick response team of Punjab Police will immediately respond on receiving alarm by any educational institute.
