Imran Khan was born on 5 October 1952 in Lahore, Punjab, into an upper-middle-class Pashtun family. His father, Ikramullah Khan Niazi, was a civil engineer who belonged to the Niazi tribe of Pashtuns and served as a government officer. It is said that he was terminated from service due to corruption allegations. His mother, Shaukat Khanum, was a homemaker, she died because of cancer.
