The 12th Rabi ul Awal is the most significant day in the Islamic calendar as it marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) is a very significant event in the history of Islam & whole mankind. It is a day of immense importance and is celebrated by Muslims all over the world with great zeal and fervor. The reason for its importance is that the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) was the beginning of a new era in human history. He (PBUH) was the last & final messenger of Almighty Allah & his teachings provide guidance for all of humanity. Almighty Allah gave him the title of Rahmatul-lil-Alameen in the holy Quran.

 

Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) is the one who brought the message of Islam to the world. The last Prophet of Allah is the one who established the 1st ever real Islamic state in the world. He is the one who fought against the unbelievers but all his wars were defensive in nature. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) is the one who gave us the holy Quran. His sacred message is for all mankind till the day of judgement. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was sent to mankind as a mercy to the all worlds. History of 12th Rabi ul Awal

12th Rabi ul Awal is a special occasion for Muslims as it commemorates the birth of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Eid Milad un Nabi is celebrated on this day. It is an occasion for us to remember his incredible life & his great contributions to humanity.

 

The birthday and death day of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) are the same i.e 12th Rabi ul Awal, but Muslims do not mourn on this day due to death of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as Muslims believe from the core of their hearts that on this day Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) met with his friend on completion of his sacred mission and they also believe that he is still alive in heaven.

Despite coming from a privileged background, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a humble man who always cared for the poor & needy. He was also known for his truthfulness and honesty.

 

 

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) began receiving revelations from Allah at the age of 40. For the next 23 years he preached the message of Islam to the people of Arabia.

 

Rahmatul-lil-Alameen was opposed and persecuted by the Meccans but he never gave up. He continued to spread the message of Islam and as a result, many people accepted the new faith.

 

 

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a great leader and provided guidance on all aspects of life. His noble teachings continue to inspire Muslims all over the world today.

 

 

Celebrations on 12th Rabi ul Awal or Eid Milad ul Nabi

12 Rabi ul Awal is celebrated as Eid Milad-Un-Nabi with great enthusiasm all over the Muslim world. Homes, roads, streets, govt buildings and mosques are decorated & special prayers are offered. Muslims also give charity on this day and attend lectures & seminars about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

 

 

In Pakistan, the Eid Milad-Un-Nabi celebrations generally last for the whole month of Rabi ul Awal and specially on 12th Rabi ul Awl. Special processions are taken out on the streets and people sing religious songs (Hamd) and recite poems in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW).

 

 

The celebrations are a reminder of the great debt we owe to the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He sacrificed everything for Islam and showed us the right path in life. His birthday is a day of thanksgiving for all Muslims and an opportunity to renew our commitment to following his teachings till our death.
