HEC has abolished BA, BSc, B.Com, MA and MSc 2 years programs. Now after intermediate students will have to get admission in four years BS program or 2 years associate degree program (ADP). ADP program is offered in many fields like education ADE, Arts ADA, Science ADS, Computer Science ADCS and Commerce ADA. Students can appear in ADA programs as private candidate. You will not be able to appear in BS exam as private candidate. After ADP students will get admission 2024 in BS 5th semester.
BS 5th Semester Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria, Misunderstandings, Terms & Conditions
BS 5th semester admission are opened in August to October. ADP passed students are also eligible to apply for BS 5th semester admission. BA, BSc and B.Com passed students can also apply for admission in BS 3rd year. In short 14 years education is required for admission in BS 5th semester. Candidates should have got second division in their terminal degree BA/BSc/B.Com/ADA/ADCS/ADE/ADS/ADC. Here second division means at least 45% numbers.
All the students of BS 5th semester will have to study a 0 semester first. In this bridging or deficiency courses are taught. Deficiency courses of 15-18 credit hours are taught in this zero semester. It means you will have to study 5 semesters. You will be taught in separate badge. Associate degree holders in concerned field will not have to study zero semester. Maximum upper age limit for admission in BS 5th semester in Punjab university is 26 years. There is no upper age limit for evening or afternoon students. Punjab university has also reserved 50% seats in BS 5th semester for PU graduates. 50% seats are filled through open merit. 2 marks are deducted in final merit of late students for each year. Some universities deduct 10 numbers for each session. Maximum 5 years old graduates are given admission in BS 5th semester. Fresh graduates are always given preference.
Students are not allowed to get admission in 2 programs at a time. It means you can not get admission in BS 5th semester or LLB etc. Its too a fact that after ADP you will have to get fresh admission in BS fifth semester. At present AIOU is just giving admission to ADP students in BS 5th semester.
Merit of BS 5th semester will depend upon your marks in terminal degree i.e BA, BSc and ADP. Your marks in relevant subject will also be counted at the time of determining merit of BS 3rd year. Students are not allowed to study BS 5th semester as private candidate but if they will not be given admission in public sector universities then they may get admission in afternoon & evening shifts of govt universities, in public sector postgraduate colleges and private sector universities. Students will not have to qualify any entry test for admission in BS 5th semester. Now large number of government and private sector universities are offering admission 2024 in BS 5th semester like Numl, Iub University of Haripur, VU, Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Uog, Minhaj University, Punjab University, Leads University, University of Okara, Quaid e Azam University, University of Karachi and GCUF etc.

After intermediate BS is much better further study option than ADP, but even after ADP you may appear in PMS and CSS exams. Other then open merit, the students are also allowed to apply on reserved seats i.e. 2% seat for special students, 2% seats for sportsmen, 2% seats for children of University employees etc. You should also have local domicile and final result card of terminal degree. Hafiz e Quran students are given 20 extra marks. Generally about 7.5% seats are reserved for students who have got Associate Degree in the relevant subject. Arts students will not be allowed to get admission 2024 in BS programs of science subjects.
